Why we will not pour on native dirt and hope
Uncompacted fill, topsoil, and saturated clay are how you get settlement cracks six months later. We strip organics, bring in a flexible base, and compact in lifts. On sloped Boerne and Bulverde lots that also means cutting and filling so the finished patio or drive actually meets the house.
Water has to have somewhere to go
South Texas storms are short and hard. We pitch slabs, keep water off the foundation, and will tell you if a drain or a regrade of the yard is required before concrete is a good idea. Pouring pretty concrete into a bowl is a waste of your money.
